David Wehle’s award-nominated game, The First Tree, has arrived on consoles today! The console version was developed by Wehle, with the help of DO Games, which helped with porting and passing certification. Together they have brought The First Tree to consoles, expanding its emotional reach and adding more content.
The First Tree is a third-person platformer centered around two stories: one about a fox trying to find her missing family members, and one about a child reconnecting with his estranged father in Alaska. The fox and the child’s story intertwine and in the end, Wehle hopes that it will teach you to understand death and recognize the beauty of life.
It has been nominated for the Best Game and Best Music awards at the 2018 Emotional Games Awards and features a soundtrack created by Message to Bears, Lowercase Noises, and Josh Kramer. The First Tree also markets itself as a game for fans of titles such as Gone Home, Firewatch, and Journey, all of which are critically acclaimed emotional games.
The total hours of playtime are approximately two on a casual run and three on a completionist run, but the new ports have added features such as new secrets, as well as a developer commentary mode. The journey may be short, but with a $10 price range, it offers more than enough content. You can purchase The First Tree on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch today!
